Our story began on a hospital's medical-surgical unit, where we were both student nurses. Sara first spotted Cullen during clinicals and appreciated his muscles and his amazing hair. Naturally, she took matters into her own hands, made the first move, and hit on him. One conversation led to exchanging numbers, and we’ve been texting, spending time together, and finding more reasons to be around each other ever since. Our first date was bowling, where Cullen unexpectedly revealed that he was practically a professional.

What started as a chance encounter, quickly became something neither of us could have planned. Cullen still finds ways to make Sara smile and feel giddy, as if we’re always in the honeymoon phase. With him, time seems to slip away, and even the simplest moments can make life feel a little more magical. Somewhere along the way, he became not only the person she loves, but also the person who makes her feel like a little kid again.

When it came time to make forever official, Cullen planned a surprise at Sara’s favorite place in North Carolina, Carolina Beach. During a last-minute trip with friends, he proposed beneath a tiki bar at sunset, with a hidden photographer there to capture it all. The forecast had called for pouring rain, lightning, and storms, but the day turned out to be gorgeous and sunny. Sara, who considers herself quite the detective, never suspected a thing. It was the perfect surprise and a beautiful reminder that some of life’s best moments are the ones you never see coming.
